____Abstracts allow me to play with color and composition without hanging them on the framework of an object. They are idealized in that way; pure and simple.

When I sit with a sketchbook, the abstract drawings flow out. When I look at the world around me, the abstract shapes and their relationships to each other jump out at me. When I am falling asleep, abstract compositions play in my mind's eye.

Once, when I was an engineering student, I dreamt of abstract shapes dancing on my bedroom wall. They made me very happy and I have waited a long time before giving myself permission to pursue them.
